I Wish I Had a Better One

I wish I had a more interesting story about why I began making Darl Bars. Back in 2020, I wanted to start some kind of food business, but I didn’t know what.
Sometimes I think about why I started making muesli bars in the first place, and I still don’t really have a good answer.
Maybe it’s because I hate being stranded somewhere without any good food around. Just the thought of being hungry with nothing delicious to eat makes me anxious.
Whatever the reason, I’m glad I did, because sharing something I’m proud of, and have put so much energy into is a special thing. And when someone enjoys them, it makes it even more special.
Then one lazy Sunday afternoon, Laura and I were enjoying chocolate milkshakes when she said “Why don’t you do muesli bars?” 45 minutes later, I’d baked my very first batch.
They weren’t very good, but I had fun making them, so I kept experimenting. 287 recipe experiments later, I started selling Darl Bars at the MullumbimbyMarkets, and I haven’t stopped experimenting since. I’ve probably baked over 1000 different recipes by now.
